Welcome to the Peer Reviewed Biology
project!
The idea is to streamline the process of scientific publication
while maintaining the full rigor of peer review.
- Authors are required to find three "peers" willing to
review their work. If each of the three reviewers agrees to
publicly declare that the work is scientifically sound, then the
work is published.
Consequently, no editorial decisions are involved. The only
adminstrative overhead involved is the verification of the identities
of the authors and reviewers, and the verification of the scientific
concurrence of the reviewers. The paper is then published, along with
the names and comments (if any) of the reviewers, the published paper
then being in the public domain (free global access).
There are the typical advantages of an online publication
including:
- no size limitations on manuscripts
- searchable interfaces to find authors' and reviewers'
manuscripts
- public comments attached to manuscripts (post-publication
review)
- papers published "on the fly" without waiting for group
publication in issues or volumes
- enabling sending of email directly to authors and/or reviewers
without having to list actual email addresses (eliminates "address
harvesting" by spam-bots)
- authors' and reviewers' contact information always
current
